Absorbed in Love

"To do things right, first you need love, then technique." - A. Gaudí

Concentration is what happens when the mind works harmoniously, rather than fighting with itself.
This is made possible when your concentration object is pleasant and meaningful.
Loving-Kindness (Metta) meditation is really, really good at being both of these things.
And when difficulties arise, love is the most powerful thing for bringing the mind back into coherence—just as disharmony in a group can be resolved easily if there is a deep sense of safety, trust, and reliable wellbeing.
Absorbed in Love offers an effective, step-by-step guide to finding Metta without it feeling forced or contrived, and using that to deepen your concentration practice, access deeper states of absorption, healing, joy, and wholeheartedness.

This Course is for you if:

Testimonials

The course is beautiful… I love it, use it, want more.
– Ankita
“[The course practices] worked for me really well, and other metta instructions haven’t… my meditation practice is so much more enjoyable. I’m reliably more concentrated, and distractions lead to self-compassion rather than frustrate me… Thanks for making this!”
– Stuart
“[Ollie has] created a beautifully simple and approachable course that makes Metta practice achievable for everyone. Ollie’s mix of wisdom, experience, humor, and genuine humility makes this journey not only effective but also uplifting and enjoyable (as it’s supposed to be!)
…Ollie isn’t just a teacher—he’s a true spiritual friend: a Kalyana Mitta.  If you’re looking for a way to bring more kindness and connection into your life—and to share that goodness with the people around you—this course is truly a gift.
May you be well, may you be happy, and may you too, find peace.”
– Junot
The Absorbed in Love course is both supportive to new metta practices, and expansive enough to compliment existing practices. Ollie introduces metta objects and techniques that I had never encountered before. His emphasis on playfulness, permission, and delicate sensitivity helped me feel into metta even when I felt like I least deserved it.
– Leon

The Structure of the Course

Section One – Creating a Spark
Step one is creating a ‘spark’ of metta; a felt sense of warmth in the body. There are more ways to do this than just phrases or visualizations! This section introduces different approaches so you can find what works for you to support stable attention and resonance.
Section Two – Supportive Approaches
This section gives you some principles for how to use intentions effectively to support creating that initial spark of metta easily and with minimal effort, to stabilise attention, make effective progress, and really enjoy the practice.
Section Three – Catching Fire
Now you can create a ‘spark’ of metta, this section covers ways to get that spark to ‘catch’; to tend it and encourage it to grow and spread into a stable, pleasurable, and radiant love that serves as an ideal meditation object.
Section Four – Transforming Hindrances with Metta
Hindrances like dullness, distraction, doubt, and emotional pain of various kinds are part of the path. This section shows how to hold and transform those hindrances with loving-kindness—using it as fuel for the practice—rather than getting into a battle with them.
Section Five – Letting the Fire Spread
At the start, metta needed active effort. Now that the bodily feeling of loving-kindness is stable and strong, the process of absorption is more about letting go. Here, you’ll learn how to ease up, trust the practice, and allow metta to carry you effortlessly into deeper concentration.
Section Six – Unveiling Metta
Most instructions talk about metta as something that has to be generated. This section will familiarise you with an alternative model: the nature of awareness is already inherently characterised by love. Your task is simply to learn to recognise what’s obscuring it, and notice that your deepest nature is the loving, aware space that those obscurations arise within.
This section draws a lot from Internal Family Systems models and practices, and also offers tools for healing and integration work.

How Long Does it Take?

This course is designed to help you develop fluency with metta at your own pace. If you did one guided meditation each day, it would take you about six weeks, but there’s no fixed timeline. I’d encourage you to repeat practices, and move to the next section whenever you feel like you’ve met the goals of the current one.

"Instead of relating to samadhi [(concentration)] practice in terms of measurement or achievement of some goal, it is usually much more helpful, more kind, and less self-alienating to conceive of it as a caring, both in the present and in the long term, for the heart and mind." - Rob Burbea
