
These are three modes of doing metta practice. One may feel most supportive of a metta spark at different times, so in this practice we’ll play with each. However, I expect that you’ll find the last mode—just resting in the felt sense with minimal intentionality—becomes more and more accessible as you keep practising, and this, for most people, eventually becomes the easiest mode from which to enter samadhi. It’s also the least commonly addressed in most metta instructions.
