Vividness

Sometimes in samadhi practices, one can inadvertently adopt an attitude of aversion to the senses; there may be a subtle attempt to cut off from the outside world.
Often this manifests in the form of closing off contact with the body. This can lead to dullness and a lack of vividness, a lack of spaciousness. We’ve emphasised staying embodied and aware in this course to try to counter this tendency. We’re now going to open this up a little more in this practice, and find out how an intimate openness to the senses can in fact provide a supportive energy and vividness to metta practice.
Just as the physical feeling of the body, rather than being a hindrance, becomes more and more infused with metta, the same can be true of all the other senses too.
